"Cara Mia Addio", also known as the "Turret Opera", is a song from the 2011 puzzle video game Portal 2. After GLaDOS lets protagonist Chell go, a Prima Donna Turret sings a song in Italian while the other Turrets provide instrumentals.

The song was sung by GLaDOS and the Turrets' voice actress, Ellen McLain as the Prima Donna Turret's singing and the Turrets' sounds.

Lyrics[]

Cara bel, cara mia bella!
Mia bambina, oh ciel!
Che la stima!
Che la stima!
O cara mia, addio!

La mia bambina cara...
perché non passi lontana?
Sì, lontana da Scienza!
Cara, cara mia bambina...
Ah, mia bel!
Ah, mia cara!
Ah, mia cara!
Ah, mia bambina!
Oh cara, cara mia...

Beautiful dear, my darling beauty!
My child, oh heavens!
That she respects!
That she respects!
Oh my dear, farewell!

My dear child...
Why don't you walk far away?
Yes, far away from Science!
My dear, dear baby...
Ah, my beloved!
Ah, my dear!
Ah, my dear!
Ah, my little girl!
Oh dear, my dear...

Cara bel, cara mia bella!
Mia bambina, oh ciel!
Che ella stima!
Che ella stima!
O cara mia, addio!

La mia bambina cara...
perché non passi lontana?
Sì, lontana da Scienza!
Cara, cara mia bambina...
Ah, mia bel!
Ah, mia cara!
Ah, mia cara!
Ah, mia bambina!
Oh cara, cara mia...

Ah, mia cara!
Ah, mia cara!
Ah, mia bambina!
Oh cara, cara mia...

Beautiful dear, my darling beauty!
My child, oh heavens!
That she respects!
That she respects!
Oh my dear, farewell!

My dear child...
Why don't you walk far away?
Yes, far away from Science!
My dear, dear baby...
Ah, my beloved!
Ah, my dear!
Ah, my dear!
Ah, my little girl!
Oh dear, my dear...

Ah, my dear!
Ah, my dear!
Ah, my little girl!
Oh dear, my dear...

Trivia[]

  • Some fans believe that the references to daughters and children within the song supports the theory that Caroline, the human mind GLaDOS came from, was Chell's mother, which could also potentially mean that Cave Johnson is her father.
  • Parts of the song can be faintly heard in the music and emanations from Weighted Companion Cubes and Hard Light Bridges.
  • McLain voiced every turret individually.
